When I found Carbonate I was excited to have a super streamlined theme built for speed without any issues like removing Jquery so I wouldn’t have to work around problems should I need to add plugins to my website.
I’m honestly not a fan of Yoast though and the theme is built with Yoast in mind, so I started to look into what would be necessary to convert the theme from Yoast descriptions to RankMath instead.
I found out that with only a few overall edits this was quite painless and it allowed me to run this site with RankMath instead of using Yoast, this makes me a happy camper!
You will need to change each main template to use the RankMath Meta Description field in place of the Yoast Meta Description Field
Basically you are looking for each instance of:
_yoast_wpseo_metadesc
and looking to replace it with:
rank_math_description
Then all you will need to do is open the RankMath setting area in the post and make sure you fill in the Meta Description field and not the Excerpt field. This will then be pulled into the display page.
You will want to edit the following files using search and replace for the above Yoast text.
Now you are powered by RankMath and have tossed Yoast to the curb, hopefully this has helped you out, I hope you choose to change your website speed by moving to Carbonate!
If you find this helpful please feel free to donate spare change (if you can) over here.
